"The Tattooed Soldier" follows the story of Antonio, a Guatemalan refugee living in Los Angeles in the 1980s. Forced to leave Guatemala when his wife and son are brutally murdered by the government, Antonio carries the guilt of their deaths on his shoulders until one day, by chance, he sees the solider who killed Elena and Carlitos in a park in L.A. and decides to get revenge. After following the soldier for days, buying a gun, and setting up a plan, Antonio acts on his will for vengeance. But the better question is this: once Antonio gets his revenge, will he be able to move on and start a fresh life as he hopes? Or will his future be just as mediocre as his present life?
"The Tattooed Soldier" sigue la historia de Antonio, un refugiado guatemalteco quien vive en Los Angeles en los 1980. Obligado a salir de Guatemala cuando su mujer e hijo son asesinados brutalmente por el gobierno, Antonio lleva su culpa y remordimiento de sus muertes en sus hombros hasta un día, cuando, por casualidad, lo ve al soldado el quien los mataron a Elena y Carlitos en un parque en L.A. y decide a vengarlos. Después de seguir al soldado por días, comprar una pistola, y fundar un plan, Antonio actúa en su voluntad para la venganza. Pero la pregunta mejor es esta: ¿cuando Antonio obtiene su venganza, podrá continuar y empezar una vida nueva como espera? O será su futuro de la misma manera en que es su vida presente?

“La Plaza del Diamante,” Mercè Rodoreda
Set in Barcelona during the Spanish Civil War, “La Plaza del Diamante” (or “The Time of the Doves” in English) is narrated by and follows the life of Natalie, from when she meets her first husband Quimet to when she marries her second husband Antoni. Nicknamed ‘Colometa’ by Quimet (pigeon or dove in English), Natalia is both emotionally and mentally abused by him but has no desire to change her situation. When he goes to fight in the war and dies, presumably in Aragon, Natalia struggles to survive and support her two children during the ‘hunger years’. She begins working for Antoni, who eventually proposes marriage, and has to decide who she is and what she wants from the rest of her life.
Tenido lugar en Barcelona durante la Guerra Civil Española, “La Plaza del Diamante” es narrado por y sigue la vida de Natalia, desde cuando conoció su primer esposo Quimet hasta cuando se casó con su segundo esposo Antoni. Apodada ‘Colometa’ por Quimet (o paloma en castellano), Natalia está maltratada emocionalmente y mentalmente por él, pero no tiene ningún deseo de cambiar su situación. Cuando él va a la frontera en la guerra y se muere, presuntamente en Aragón, Natalia lucha para sobrevivir y apoyar sus dos hijos durante ‘los años del hambre’. Empieza trabajar por Antoni, quien propone el matrimonio eventualmente, y elle tiene que decidir quien ella es y lo que ella quiere del resto de su vida.
