Yesterday I went to Ávila, a small city about two hours south of Palencia.
Ávila is famous for its ancient city walls–they still stand to this day in their entirety, surrounding the whole of the old city center.
Along with that, Ávila is also famous for St. Theresa of Avila, who was born there, and this is evident throughout the city. There are (at least) two statues, a museum, and a convent dedicated to her.
I started with a few churches, one of which was the cathedral, and then continued to the convent and museum, and finally went up the city walls to get a great view of the surrounding area.
Inside the cathedral, the brickwork was unique–of a kind that I have never seen before–at all, not even in another European church. There is a picture of it, along with the walls and the view, below!

Ayer fui a Ávila, una ciudad pequeña aproximadamente dos horas sur de Palencia.
Ávila es famoso por las murallas ancianas de la ciudad–todavía siguen parando en su completitud hasta el dia de hoy, rodear todo del centro anciano de la ciudad.
Junto con eso, también Ávila es famoso por Santa Teresa de Ávila, la quien fue nacida alli, y esto es evidente por la ciudad. Hay (por lo menos) dos estatuas, un museo, y un convento que están dedicado a ella.
Empecé con algunas iglesias, una de la cual fue la catedral, y luego, continué al convento y museo, y finalmente subí a las murallas para tener una vista buena de los alrededores.
Dentro de la catedral, el enladrillado era singular–de un tipo que nunca he visto antes–en absoluto, ni aun en otra iglesia europea. Hay una foto, junto con las murallas y la vista, arriba!
