Arroz Cubano

Yesterday I cooked my first Spanish dish: arroz cubano. I chose this dish mainly because it was easy and cheap!

Here is what you will need: rice, tomato sauce, an egg, and bread. Spanish people here use a baguette–a long, thin loaf of bread, but it doesn’t really matter; the bread is more for cleaning your plate afterwards. 😉

   Here is what you do:

1. Put water on to boil for the rice.

2. Fry an egg; either sunny side up or over easy–which ever you prefer.

3. Cook rice.

4. Put tomato sauce, egg, and rice on plate with bread.

Told you this was easy! No spices, no hard directions, and easy, cheap ingredients. And the combination of tomato sauce with rice and egg is surprisingly good.
