I have more or less two months left of my time here in Spain.
I have decided to try to travel as much as I can within Spain during this time, not only to practice my Spanish as much as possible, but also to soak up as much of its beauty as I can before returning (indefinitely) to the United States.
The first of these trips has been to Villa Romana la Olmeda and after that, Saldaña.
The first is the site of a huge house and farm from Roman times–one of the oldest and most important of Spain.
There is a whole wall left more or less intact and also full tile floors also left intact! It was very cool, and a great experience to learn a little bit more about Spain’s history, as the group I went with had hired an English-speaking guide. 😉
Saldaña is the town of the man who discovered Olmeda, and there is an exposition there dedicated to him, artifacts from the site, and pictures from when they were restoring it.
Below are some pictures of Olmeda itself, the tile floors there, the church in Saldaña where the exposition was, and the oldest bullfighting ring in Spain, which was also in Saldaña!

Quedan más o menos dos meses de mi tiempo aqui en España.
He decidido a intentar viajar tanto como pueda dentro de España durante este tiempo, no solo para practicar mi espanol tanto como es posible sino tampoco para ver toda la belleza como pueda antes de volver (indefinidamente) a los EE UU.
El primer de estos viajes ha estado a la Villa Romana la Olmeda y despues, Saldaña.
El primer es el sitio de una grande casa y granja de los tiempos romanos–uno de los más viejos y importantes de España.
Hay una pared entera más o menos intacta y conservada, y también suelos enteros hecho de azulejo! Era muy guay, y una experiencia buena para aprender un poco más sobre la historia de España, como el grupo conquien fui había contratado un guía que habló ingles. 😉
Saldaña es el pueblo de dónde es el hombre quien descubrió la Olmeda, y hay una exposición alli que está dedicado a el, algunos artefactos del sitio, y las fotos de cuando lo están restaurando.
Arriba están algunas fotos de Olmeda sí misma, los suelos de azulejos, la iglesia en Saldaña dónde la exposición estaba, y la plaza del toros más vieja en España, también estaba en Saldaña!
