The man: Alan Jackson

Recently I attended the Crawford County Fair (as I do every year) for both of the annual concerts. The first was Alan Jackson. I consider, as many people do, Alan Jackson to be one of the greatest country singers still alive.

Alan Jackson is in his mid-60s and has been releasing music for years and years, and subsequently has many hit songs.

Although he is in his downwind, the concert was packed–not a seat left empty. It was a big deal for a small town like Meadville to get such a huge star for the opening act of the fair.

With his standard mustache and cowboy hat, Alan Jackson did not disappoint: he sang a lot of his hit songs, moving at a good pace through his music so he could sing more of it. He complemented his lack of movement around the stage with cute music videos for each of his songs; some of which brought me and other audience members to tears.

He sang all three of my favorite songs, “Remember When,” “Good Time,” and “Where I Come From.” “Where I Come From” was accompanied by a music video of spots all over Meadville as well as Erie-esque things. (Think Pittsburgh Steelers.)

I will say that Alan Jackson is definitely an example of that country twang that some people tend to complain about, but if my boyfriend survived, anyone can.

It was definitely a great experience to see one of the most popular country singers in person, and I hope the Crawford County Fair is able to continue bringing acts like him to Erie and Meadville!
