Another day trip: Toro

In order to break up the monotony that is winter, my boyfriend and I are trying to go to other places on Saturdays each week (or every other week). This weekend, we went to a small town in the province of Zamora (still in Castilla León) called Toro.

Is there a more Spanishy name for a town in Spain, you might ask? Well, no, there isn’t. (Toro means bull in English.)

Although the day was rainy, the view from the main church was still impressive, as was the church itself.

There was also an old military fort and of course, the main square and main street. All in all, it was a pretty town, even if the weather wasn’t so pretty.

I’m hoping these short (but interesting!) posts shows you a side of Spain that other travelers don’t post about. I know everyone sees a lot of Madrid, Barcelona, Sevilla…I want to show the real side of Spain, not just the touristy side. After all, Barcelona and Madrid and Sevilla might have the most residents, but there is still the other half of the population that doesn’t live in big cities!
